Time to Change the DNA of Housing

Her voice thick with emotion, Holly Burton stood in front of a crowd of nearly 400 people and told a heartfelt story of loss, depression and struggle.

Burton, a single mother and a participant of the St. Albert Housing Society’s HOMEconnection program, was one of the speakers highlighting the importance of affordable housing during the society’s annual Homestyle Breakfast Benefit. Her story epitomizes the role the society plays in the city, which is more than providing affordable housing but also restoring people’s dignity and self-esteem.
